A major security scare unfolded outside the United States Capitol after an 18-year-old armed suspect charged toward the building wearing tactical gear and carrying a loaded shotgun. Authorities identified the suspect as Carter Camacho of Smyrna,
Carter Camacho, of Smyrna, Georgia, was holding a loaded shotgun with the safety off as he ran up the steps, police said.
The teenager faces charges including unlawful activities, carrying a rifle without a licence, and possession of an unregistered firearm and ammunition. Authorities said he was not previously known to Capitol Police. The force’s Threat Assessment Section is now working to establish a possible motive.
